LISTEN: Jordan Lovett Explains Why He Chose Kentucky
The fourth high school football player from the Commonwealth joined Kentucky’s 2021 recruiting class Wednesday morning. Three-star defensive back Jordan Lovett explained on Kentucky Sports Radio why he wanted to become a Wildcat.
“I committed to the University of Kentucky because first off, they’re a great school,” he said. “I feel like all of the other schools I visited, I felt like Kentucky was the most comfortable with me. Also, they send guys at my position to the league, like Lonnie Johnson for example. The biggest part was because UK was close to my Mom — she’s going to be a Wildcat Mom.”
An unabashed Momma’s Boy, she was the first person he thanked after he announced his decision.

Lovett will join his North Hardin High School teammate, running back La’Vell Wright, in Lexington. Wright was one of a few who played a role in Lovett’s recruitment to Kentucky.
“We already knew each other before all of this stuff happened. Dekel (Crowdus) and La’Vell (Wright) was recruiting me as soon as they committed.”
Along with this trio, Vince Marrow also helped secure a commitment from Somerset quarterback Kaiya Sheron. Since Mark Stoops tasked Marrow to canvass the Commonwealth in 2019, the Big Dog has successfully landed 13 prospects from the state. Lovett explained why Marrow is such an effective recruiter.
“He’s 100 percent honest with you,” said Lovett. “Some schools they will sugar-coat it and tell you some BS or something. Coach Marrow, he’s 100 percent straight up with you. If you’re not good, he’ll tell you that you’re not good. If you’ve got what it takes, he’ll tell you you’ve got what it takes. For me he’s been 100 percent honest and that meant a lot for me.”
Marrow celebrated with a pun that will definitely be used by the BBN for the foreseeable future.
Boom love it.
