La'Vell Wright's words rang across the Kentucky Sports Radio airwaves Wednesday morning as the North Hardin running back pledged his allegiance to the Wildcats. The trust he built with Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow played a significant role in his decision-making process. "What sold me was their honesty, really. Just how Coach Marrow, every time he talked to me he just told me man-to-man he was going to keep it 100% with me. Coach Stoops did the same thing," Wright said. "Coach Stoops, Coach Marrow, the way they talked to me over the past weeks, the past months, we built a nice connection. Knowing that I can be right at home, playing for my state has always been a good feeling for me." He is the second prospect from the state of Kentucky to join UK's 2021 recruiting class, following Somerset quarterback Kaiya Sheron. Wright does not plan on being the last. "After I get off the phone I'm going to have to text some of my friends and get them to hop on board." One of those is his teammate, Jordan Lovett, a defensive back that led the state in interceptions in 2019 with 15. Linebacker Michael Lunz may also be on the verge of earning a scholarship offer from the Cats. Wright has also been in touch with three four-star prospects, Frederick Douglass' Dekel Crowdus, Jager Burton and Bowling Green's Jordan Dingle. Excited to represent his home state, Wright had one final message for the Big Blue Nation. "I just wanna let y'all know I'm coming in to do big things and do big things early."
