lockeseniorbowl The NFL Combine is underway, with running backs and receivers set to show their stuff over the weekend. One of those who will be in attendance is Kentucky's Derrick Locke, who turned heads at the Senior Bowl and is officially on the radar going into the biggest weekend for draft prospects. Yahoo!'s Shutdown Corner blog lists Locke as one of the top ten sleepers heading into the combine:
Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky -- The Senior Bowl standout has been refuting doubters and answering questions about his ability to maintain a serious workload at his size (5-foot-8, 186 pounds), but he already showed that he could blast through gaps against elite defensive talent in Mobile, and the combine will be his shot to show how quick and agile he is. Like Chris Johnson and Jamaal Charles, Locke is also a threat to run a sub-4.3 40-yard dash. It will be interesting to see if he takes part in the receiver drills as Dexter McCluster did -- Locke could have a similar impact in the right offense.
That's high praise for Locke, as any time you can be mentioned with super-productive backs like Johnson and Charles, you're in good company. And, if he does end up anything like those two, he's got a permanent spot on my fantasy team sewn up. Here's to hoping he and Randall Cobb make the most of the weekend. Go Cats.
