Kentucky guard Dontaie Allen has some new signage up in Falmouth, KY.

Following a standout senior season in 2019 that led to Kentucky Mr. Basketball honors, Allen’s name has been displayed on two signs located near Pendleton County High School.

“Home of Dontaie Allen, 2019 KY Mr. Basketball,” the signs – located on HWY 27 on both sides of the high school – read.

“So happy to see this when I woke up this morning, special thanks to Mark Hart and all his time spent in making this happen,” Allen’s mother, April Allen-Thomas, wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. “I texted this picture to Dontaie, when it was texted to me. His exact response was- That’s love man. I’m truly blessed & that’s an understatement.”’

The ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly-installed signs and Allen’s career has been postponed due to COVID-19.

As a senior at Pendleton County in 2018-19, Allen led the state in both scoring and rebounding at 42.9 points and 14.2 rebounds per contest. He also scored 50 points or more six times and recorded 12 double-doubles in 13 games en route to Mr. Basketball honors, just the 18th future Wildcat to win the award.

After tearing his ACL 13 games into his senior season, Allen ultimately missed the entirety of his freshman year at Kentucky while rehabbing.

This offseason, though, Allen’s trainers sent KSR some footage of the Wildcat guard working his way back from injury.
