In yet another sign of the impending apocalypse, there was a fire in the convention center adjacent to Rupp Arena this afternoon. Our intrepid reporter Drew Franklin has photos of the blaze, which was located at the Central Bank Center. According to the Herald-Leader public safety account, the fire is now out.

The fire occurred in the part of the building which was under demolition, but it has been put out, according to the fire department.

Herald-Leader photojournalist Silas Walker is also on the scene and shared this video that gives a better view of the area impacted:
It looks like there is still a crane taking part of the building apart while firefighters spray down the top. Air smells like smoke but there is no visual of fire or smoke. @heraldleader @HLpublicsafety pic.twitter.com/1VepaV2gZf

Good work, Lexington FD. That won’t be the only time Rupp’s on fire this year, right? (rimshot!)
