Looking at Kentucky's 2014 SEC basketball schedule

We're going back to the storied Auburn Arena! After a quick glance at Kentucky's 2014 conference basketball schedule, a few things stand out, other than that exciting road trip to Auburn for a third consecutive season. I know you're ready for that one. Let's hope they've added BET to the channel lineup in the hotel rooms. Here's what I see from the SEC slate and feel free to add your own in the comments section: Only one Thursday-Saturday turnaround. Kentucky played with one day's rest on two occasions last season, after Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings accused SEC scheduling practices of favoring the Wildcats in 2012. Stallings was upset that UK dodged the Thursday-Saturday turnaround in two consecutive seasons, while playing four opponents coming off Thursday night games in 2012. UK's short-rest game will be at South Carolina after hosting Arkansas, so it shouldn't be a huge problem. South Carolina is one of the weakest opponents on the conference schedule. We're going to Missouri! Missouri and KSR's new best friend Frank Haith will host the Cats for the first time in the history of the rivalry this upcoming season. If you didn't get a chance to check out Columbia last October, you've been given another chance to take in the sights, sounds and college bars of "The Athens of Missouri" during the first weekend of February. Road trippin' January 28 - February 12. Kentucky will play four road games -- at LSU, Missouri, Mississippi State, and Auburn -- in a two-week stretch from January 28 to February 12. A stop at home on Tuesday, February 4 splits up the tour but it's still four of five away from Lexington. Luckily the LSU game is first, as it's likely the toughest of the four and one of the toughest on the entire schedule. Elston Turner graduated, right? Okay, good. Marshall Henderson is coming to Rupp Arena. Assuming he's still on the team by February, Marshall Henderson will play on one of college basketball's biggest stages when Kentucky hosts Ole Miss in Rupp Arena. He's going to shoot. A lot. So long, SEC East rivals. The SEC basketball scheduling isn't what it once was, I get it. But what happened to all of our SEC East basketball brethren? Kentucky gets one game against its old friends Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and South Carolina, but two games against LSU, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Ole Miss? What is this, Arkansas? We don't even get to boo Kevin Stallings or cower in fear at the sight of Frank Martin. Kentucky could enter the postseason coming off a loss. The most difficult game on the conference schedule, at Florida, is the final game of the regular season. The Wildcats will be tested before moving on to Atlanta for the SEC tournament later that next week. And maybe, just maybe, UK will be looking to complete a perfect 18-0 in SEC play in that game.
