Louisville 1 Kentucky 0

by:Matt Jones08/10/06
Kentucky got some bad news recently when Rockcastle County Offensive Lineman, Brad Durham decided to spurn the Blue and White and join the red and Black, committing to Louisville next season. The commitment came as a bit of a surprise to a lot of onlookers as Durham represents a part of the state that usually bleeds blue down to its core, the Southeastern part. Durham is considered one of the better prospects in the state and represents a big win for the Cards. Ok enough of that, what is the real deal on this? Well first of all, last year marked a big in-state recruiting year for the Cats. They outdid the Cards almost across the board in state, landing Micah Johnson and Corey Peters from the Cards' grasp. It is interesting to watch this battle develop as even though Louisville has had more recent on the field success (by a wide margin), Kentucky has kept up with the Cards in state, really only losing key players that are actually in the state of Louisville. While I dont believe this loss "turns the tide" in any way, it is rare to see a kid from that part of the state join the Cards over the Cats. Oh yeah and by the way, in case you didnt know that isnt the football player up top, but rather Brad Durham of the Savannah, Georgia cosmetic dentistry firm. He is a star, but I hear he is leaning Tennessee.
