The boys in purple will be back in action in less than six weeks' time. The USL Championship Board of Governors voted on Thursday to return to play the 2020 season, with a provisional start date set for July 11. The schedule, format and more details on the USL's return will be released in the coming weeks. Louisville City FC played in just one match, a loss to North Carolina FC, before the season was postponed due to coronavirus. The two-time USL Champions were set to open play in Lynn Family Stadium in April. The brand new $65 million facility in Butchertown can host up to 14,000 rabid soccer fans. “This is fantastic news for all of us,” said head coach John Hackworth.  “We look forward to resuming our 2020 season in the near future.  While we wait for the league to announce the specific competition format and other details, we are excited to progress to full training and competitive matches.  Hopefully, we will progress to the point where our faithful LouCity fans can watch us play in our new soccer cathedral, Lynn Family Stadium.”
