UofL's Largest Donors Publicly Call for Tom Jurich 2.0

Bobby 2.0 worked so well, the University of Louisville’s wealthiest benefactors (who are still paying for Bobby Petrino’s buyout) want to run it back with Tom Jurich 2.0.

Over the last six months the UofL fanbase has been divided as leadership changes seemingly happen every other week. Throughout each coach and administrator’s departure, one vocal portion of the fanbase has been calling for Tom Jurich to return to his post as athletic director. It was all in good fun when it was just a few folks on Twitter who raised money for a billboard. Tommy Turtleneck 2.0 became a real possibility Tuesday.

Jurich’s most loyal supporters met Tuesday afternoon to hatch a plan to get Jurich to return to his post as Louisville’s athletic director. WDRB’s Eric Crawford was on hand when the meeting adjourned, spotting some of the city and university’s most influential and wealthy actors. Marques Maybin, Scott Davenport and Dr. Ricky Jones were in attendance alongside the big three: Jim Patterson, Steve Trager and Mark Lynn.

If a building has been constructed in the last two decades on UofL’s campus, it probably has Trager, Patterson or Lynn’s name on it. Lynn actually has his name on not one, but two soccer stadiums in the city. All three are ready to reinstate Jurich to his place of power. It’s difficult to analogize this to the University of Kentucky, but allow me to try. Imagine a world where Joe Craft and Bill Gatton are holding meetings to bring DeWayne Peevy back to Lexington, except Peevy actually oversaw a tenure that put the basketball program on probation in perpetuity with countless scandals. The best part? The spokesperson for the UofL athletics coup attempt is John Ramsey.

“We have someone who is integrity driven, who always does the right thing,” Ramsey said with a straight face. “And if they’re looking for characteristics of an AD that we’re looking for, then I think we’ve got him. And he’s interested in the job.”

If money talks, the integrity driven man who always does the right thing will make his triumphant return before the NCAA formally punishes UofL for the crimes it committed years ago under his watch.

UofL Fans Cry “Tampering” in the Transfer Portal

While the big wigs plotted their next big move, Scott Satterfield’s offense was left empty-handed on Floyd Street. The Cardinals already lost their top returning receiver when Jordan Watkins transferred to Ole Miss. The next man up decided he had enough too.

Tyler Harrell entered his name into the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon. The fastest and most explosive player on Satterfield’s roster, last year he averaged 29.1 yards per catch last season on just 18 receptions. Louisville fans did not handle it well.

Harrell is rumored to be bound for Alabama. Now Cardinal fans everywhere are crying “TAMPERING!” It’s a charge that has never amounted to anything because working with middle-men in recruiting and the transfer portal is common practice in big-time college athletics. Of course, that’s a world UofL fans completely are unaware of because they’ve been irrelevant for so long in so many ways. Maybe one day they’ll come to know that in the SEC, it just means more.
