After months and months and months and months and months and months and months of planning, debating and waiting, TopGolf is finally opening in Louisville.

One of the country’s most popular attractions, the driving range allows players to blast balls into targets in a competition against friends. Folks in Kentucky will finally get to experience this wonderful leisure. TopGolf opens at Oxmoor Center Friday, Nov. 18. The more than 100 heated bays will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to Midnight on Friday and Saturday.

TopGolf has a universally high approval rating, with one exception: Hurstbourne residents. Members of the nearby neighborhood have opposed the project since 2018. They would prefer the mall to go defunct, rather than bring business to a storefront that’s seen better days. Traffic concerns were initially at the heart of the grievances for three Hurstbourne neighbors that eventually filed lawsuits to stop the project. The complaints got much sillier. One resident described it as “Godzilla’s cage,” while another said the lights from the facility were brighter than the sun.

Much to the chagrin of the city of Hurstbourne, people all across the Commonwealth will now get to enjoy a day at Topgolf. This blogger may or may not already have an NFL Sunday scheduled to spend at Topgolf. With basketball and football overlapping, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a couple cold ones, blast some golf balls and laugh out loud at the Hurtsbourne residents.
