Heads up for those of you planning to buy a Lynn Bowden Raiders jersey: it will have a 33 on it. Bowden tweeted tonight that he is switching to the No. 33, which goes in line with Raiders General Manager Mike Maylock’s comments that they plan on using him at running back initially.

“Ultimately, he’ll probably be what we call a joker — which I love in Jon [Gruden]’s offense — it’s somebody that’s able to do multiple jobs. But day one, he’s going to come in and be a running back. In the SEC two years ago, he caught 60-70 passes as a slot. Last year, as you guys know, he was quarterback/wildcat. He gained over 1,000 yards. We think he’s one of the most athletic, tougher guys in this year’s draft. We’re going to train him to be running back. If he’s able to do that job, we’ll be able to do some other things with him.”

Bowden even used the joker emoji in his tweet tonight:

It makes sense. Bowden finished his junior year as the top rusher in the SEC with 1,468 total yards, topping the 1,414-yard mark set by LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Outside of pure rushing yards, Bowden also finished first in the SEC and eighth in the nation in yards from scrimmage with 1,816 total yards to go with 14 touchdowns and 139 yards per game.

I like my running back.
