Mark Pope will reportedly visit 5-star PF Caleb Wilson today
Kentucky’s push for Caleb Wilson continues.
According to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog, head coach Mark Pope will pay Wilson an in-home visit at some point today (Tuesday, Oct. 8). Wilson is coming off an unofficial visit to North Carolina over the weekend, which was added last minute after a previously scheduled trip to Alabama was canceled in the days leading up.
Zagoria also reports that an Oregon assistant was in to see Wilson, who suits up for Holy Innocents Episcopal (GA), practice on Monday. Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler visited him on Monday, as well. After Pope comes in at some point today, Wilson will prepare for an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. The five-star power forward also has a Georgia Tech official visit (Oct. 18) on the docket.
Wilson checks in as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Atlanta product took his official visit to Kentucky back in September. The Wildcats are believed to be one of the current frontrunners.
Pope is looking to fill out his first real high school recruiting class as Kentucky’s head coach with Wilson as the headliner. He’s already received commitments from a pair of in-state prospects: five-star guard Jasper Johnson and four-star center Malachi Moreno. Four-star guard Acaden Lewis and five-star power forward Chris Cenac, among a few others, are two more recruits high on Kentucky’s radar.

Wilson is down to a Top 12 group of finalists that includes Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Central Florida, and Southern California. So far, he’s visited three of those schools (UK, UNC, UCF) this fall with two more (Tennessee, Georgia Tech) on the way. His previously scheduled visit to Alabama will not be rescheduled.
Pope will actually meet with the media this afternoon for preseason Media Day. But he’s still finding time to fly down for a quick visit with the Wilson family.
