Mark Stoops and his family have finally put down their roots in Lexington. According to The Herald-Leader, Stoops bought a house in the Beaumont neighborhood for $1.45 million. The 9,000 square foot house has five bedrooms, 6½ bathrooms, a Jacuzzi, an elevator, a wood deck and a 2,499-square-foot finished basement, including a theater room. The home also backs up to a walking trail. It's the third-highest single-family home sale in Lexington in the past year, behind UK Hoops coach Matthew Mitchell's purchase of Rick Pitino's former home for $2.06 million. John Calipari's still got the most expensive house in the athletic department; in 2009, he bought his house on Richmond Road and an adjoining lot for $2.3 million. Let us know when we can come over for a movie and a soak, Coach.
