Back in the summer, Matthew Mitchell told Kentucky Sports Radio listeners that he planned to use his new free time in retirement to give back to the community. He also told KSR listeners to be on the lookout for new things from the Coach Mitchell Band.

Those two promises have now collided as Mitchell and his band will perform a holiday-themed concert – Coach Mitchell Presents A Christmas in Kentucky – to benefit kids around Fayette County.

The concert will be held Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. ET at the Lexington Opera House and all proceeds from the event will benefit character and leadership development among students in Fayette County Public Schools.

Tickets to the event go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, October 28, at 10 a.m. ET through and the Lexington Opera House box office. Tickets range from $25 to $50 with all proceeds going directly back to the Lexington community.

“What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than by singing some holiday classics and raising money for a good cause? Jenna and I are so excited for this special night and raise much-needed funds to help the students in Fayette County,” Mitchell said. “This night will combine two of my favorite things in Christmas music and helping this amazing community that has given our family so much. I hope everyone will join us to have a good night and help the youth of our community in the process.”

While guest-hosting yesterday’s KSR show, Mitchell announced a new Christmas song that will be released next Monday, November 1, for purchase and on radio. In this new blockbuster announcement today, he revealed an entire Christmas album to be released on the same day.

More information on the album and the Coach Mitchell Band can be found at when the site launches later this year.

In the meantime, get plans ready for the holiday concert and purchase your tickets tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. We’ll remind you here on KSR.
