Meanwhile, in football...

by:John Dubya03/08/07
The rumors surrounding the Kentucky football team this past week were officially verified today by Rich Brooks and reported by the HL's Chip Cosby: Super Frosh Micah Johnson, his teammate/brother OL Christian Johnson, and Sophomore OL Garry Williams have been suspended by Coach Brooks for academic reasons. Brooks was still uncertain if these players will be allowed to participate in spring drills, although none have been participating in recent off-season workouts. In addition to the suspensions, OL Micah Jones will no longer be with the team as he has decided to give up football. Jones, everybody's All-American coming out of high school, has been consistently plagued by back and knee injuries, and his work ethic and desire have always been questioned by the staff. If that weren't enough, seldom used cornerback Jarrell Williams was booted from the squad for a violation of Pappy's rules. Big shake ups from the football front today, a nice little cloud over an otherwise glorious afternoon. Hopefully Micah will get back in gear, as missing spring drills would be a monstrous setback.
