Michael Henig's Interception Friday

by:Matt Jones08/30/07
football Some notes on a football not intercepted by LSU..... Ouch that was painful. As excited as I was to watch the opening of college football, watching Miss St get it handed to them by LSU was.....well difficult. In some ways, the game was a perfect example of how fickle college football can be. While LSU ended up winning a game that looks like a complete rout, those who watched the first half could easily say that the game was in Miss St's reach. The Bulldogs were generally right there, had a couple of drives into LSU territory....and then our boy Henig would throw one of his 6 interceptions. Down the stretch it was tough, but I stayed through till the end.....why, you say? Well of course because the over/under was 45 1/2......and yes the final score was 45-0. Kentucky Sports Radio had the under, LSU covering and Kent St winning. Another perfect night to begin the season.....gotta love it. So what about Kent St. eh? We talked on the show tonight about how the smart money was on the Golden Flashes winning at Iowa St, and then they went and did it. The Kent St coach said on our show this summer that they believed they could win in Ames, and win they did. Now they come into Lexington next week and everyone should be on alert. The Kent St team makes very few mistakes, can run the football and now looks like a team that believes it isnt scare of a road game against a BCS conference school. Worth watching.... Louisville won in a sick fashion as expected. The line (that we could find) was 55 1/2 and somehow the Ville ended up passing it.....almost by halftime. The speed that the Cards have on offense is truly sick. They have guys that literally could run by Murray State on every play. I am going to make no broad comments on the meaning of this game, because there likely isnt one. Murray State was 1-10 last season in I-AA, so they had no business being in the game. But any worries that the offense in Louisville would not be stellar are gone.....beating them in two weeks will take something approaching 50 points. The Steve Johnson thing is odd. We may learn more as time goes on but the decision by Rich Brooks not even to suspend the guy for one game showcases that people find the whole scenario a little fishy. I like Steve and think he is the key to the season....but I will be interested to see how this progresses. I hope you heard the Hink-Kige Ramsey segments on the radio today. They were epic. Its been a good week with Gregg Doyel, Johnny the Freak, Bomani Jones and Woo doing the pick em contest. Woo picking games is BRILLIANT......just trust me on this. More as the day progresses.....
