Tomorrow just got a little more interesting. UK just announced that athletics director Mitch Barnhart will address reporters Saturday afternoon. Mark Stoops and select players were already scheduled to speak to the media at Kroger Field following the team’s first scrimmage. Now, Barnhart will join them, an interesting addition considering the week’s events.
In case you’ve been under a rock, John Calipari’s “basketball school” comments and Mark Stoops’ reaction created quite the stir yesterday, even garnering national attention. Since Stoops’ tweet — which is still up, by the way — both sides have been quiet (at least publicly). All day, we’ve been waiting for a statement from Calipari and/or Stoops, but it sounds like it will be Barnhart that steps up to the mic to put the issue to bed tomorrow.
Stoops is scheduled to speak to the media around 12:30 PM tomorrow, followed by players and Barnhart. We’ll have several boots on the ground to bring you the news as it happens, so stay tuned.
