More media outlets disrespect the Cats, pick South Carolina to beat Kentucky on Saturday

by:Jack Pilgrim09/23/18
You'd think a blowout victory over the No. 14 team in college football, a 4-0 start, and a No. 17 overall ranking would get talking heads to stop disrespecting the Kentucky Wildcats. Apparently not. For whatever reason, South Carolina opened up as two-point favorites over Kentucky this afternoon, a number most fans thought was absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately for us, it's only getting worse. OddsShark released their score prediction, where they believe South Carolina will defeat Kentucky by eight points, a final score of 32.2-24.2... ESPN's Football Power Index predicts South Carolina has a 53.7 percent chance to defeat Kentucky, though they did indicate the spread is now down to just one in favor of the Gamecocks. Can you blame them? Those victories over Coastal Carolina and Vanderbilt, along with their blowout loss against Georgia, really have me going all-in on the Cocks, too. To make matters worse, ESPN's FPI lists Kentucky at No. 35 in the nation, behind the likes of Mississippi State, Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri, among others. Keep in mind the Cats came in at No. 17 in both AP and Coaches Polls released this afternoon: They do project Kentucky to finish with an 8.3-3.8 record, so it doesn't really make sense why they're so low on the Cats compared to some of the other (obviously worse) teams in college football. In (relatively) good news, however, Bovada has dropped Kentucky's national championship odds from +50,000 to +35,000. *Insert "so you're saying there's a chance?" .gif here* Keep proving them wrong, Cats.
