Nerlens giving the crowd some love

-Coach Phillips said that he was happy with how his young guys played in the game, and that he likes where the team is headed.

-Phillips stressed consistency as the thing that the team needed to work on most. He said there were some nice plays made, but there was too much inconsistency from the guys he expects to be playmakers next season.

-Quarterback Max Smith wasn’t trilled with his performance in yesterday’s game. He thought he missed too many open throws and didn’t put the ball where it needed to be on some passes, which turned into interceptions. When asked if he thought the coaches would think he had a good game he said “Probably not.”

-Smith expects to the throw the ball a lot more this season this than last, which probably has to do the much improved receiver corps.

– Wideout/Kick Returner DeMarco Robinson said he became a lot more comfortable in the offense after Saturday’s game. He hopes to be a reliable target for Smith going forward, and wants to impact the game in every way he can.

– Wideout LaRod King tweaked a knee and sat out of yesterday’s game. He said if it was a real game he would’ve been able to play but since it was the spring game he didn’t want to hurt himself even further.

-Defensive linemen Donte Rumph and Mister Cobble felt that they played extremely well yesterday. They both notched a sack, and have high expectations for themselves and the defense next season.

-Coach Phillips was also excited about the defense and, specifically the play of safety Martavius Neloms. He thinks that Neloms has become a true leader, both on and off the football field.
