Murray State player given technical foul for pointing at teammate, coach ejected
College basketball officiating is back in the news today after a clip from Saturday’s Murray State vs. Morehead State women’s basketball game went viral.
In the first half of the game, Murray State’s Lex Mayes hit a three and pointed at the teammate who gave her the assist, which resulted in a technical foul from the referee. When Murray State head coach Rechelle Turner questioned the call, she was given two technical fouls and ejected from the game. Here’s the video from Cameron Witte:
In the second half, Mayes made a three and instead of pointing to her teammate to thank them for the assist, simply put her hands in the air:
Not an update, but:
Lex Mayes made a three shortly after the 2nd half began, and when she did, instead of pointing to her teammate for the assist, she put her hands up. pic.twitter.com/RxU5qvq216
