Mutuel Musings

So if anyone went with my picks on Friday you were rewarded with a trifecta...you're welcome. This weekend thus far has done nothing but reiterate that handicapping is nearly a fruitless attempt at legitimacy, but can still be conquered every so often. Sunday, Oct. 8 Race 1 Give me the #10 Winged Splendor. This is her first career start, but she's been lighting quick on her works on the Poly recently. Then again, betting on a maiden race is like saying "here Keeneland, take my money cuase I don't need it." Keep an eye on #1 and #2 as well. Race 2 Bet the #2 Meet in Paris across the board or to show. She might drop down in odds from the 12-1 morning line, but should still be at a good price. Sounds like a chick flick, but she's fast. Race 4 The #10 Cat and a Half will be the even favorite and should take this one down. I'd put the 1o with the #3 or #6 in an exacta box...and then buy me a beer when it hits. Race 6 (8-2-5) Race 7 (5-3-2) Race 8 The 51st running of the Grade I Juddmonte Spinister...aren't you excited!! I'm gonna have to go chalk here; the #4 Spun Sugar has the class and the track record to back it up. Last 3 starts were all G1's, finishing 1, 4, 1 respectively. The #1 Happy Ticket should run solid as well. My longshot in this one is the #3 Promenade Girl. Put her in with the #4 in an exacta or something and don't yell at me when #3 finishes last. Race 9 Why are you still here? You've had way too many Sunday beers and you'll never beat the traffic now!
