Racing Louisville Football Club is coming to a pitch near you. Wednesday morning the name and logo for Louisville's new NWSL franchise was unveiled. The team that will begin play in the National Women's Soccer League in 2021 will wear similar colors to the men's team, Louisville City FC, and sport the fleur-de-lis. The inspiration for the crest's entirety is explained in the following video. https://twitter.com/RacingLouFC/status/1280860954142609422?s=20 Originally known as "Proof Louisville FC," backlash forced club officials to reconsider the bourbon themed name. This time around they embraced Kentucky's horse racing industry in their choice. Frankly, I think "Racing Louisville" sounds nice. If nothing else, I will believe that the women's soccer players in our state will be faster than their opponents based on name alone. The expansion franchise has merchandise on sale now and fans can apply for season tickets to watch the team play at Lynn Family Stadium next year. Racing Louisville's counterparts, Louisville City FC, will open up the new soccer stadium this Sunday at 30% capacity with a 5 p.m. kickoff that can be seen on ESPN2.
