NCAA announces expansion

by:Katie Martin04/23/10
finalfour2011 With rumors flying this offseason about a possible March Madness expansion, the  NCAA announced yesterday  morning that the Division I Men's Basketball Committee unanimously passed a 68-team expansion proposal.  The NCAA board of directors will review the proposal later this month for final approval, but it looks as if March Madness as we know it will remain relatively intact, though with each 16-seed competing in a play-in game (I say make the lowest seeded at-large teams from the "Big 6" conferences play the extra games  as they are the ones that are least deserving of the spots, but I digress.) Additionally, the NCAA announced that it will once again team with CBS (and additionally Turner broadcasting) to provide coverage of the tournament until 2024 (the year my future son suits up for the Cats as the 15th straight one-and-done star point guard).  The deal is worth $10.8 million BILLION and for the first time in the history of the world, every single game will be shown live across four national networks.  Do they still make TVs with picture-in-picture?
