This week, we should finally get some clarity on the 2020 college basketball season.

Jeff Goodman is reporting that the Division I Council is expected to vote Wednesday to move the start date of the season to November 21. In the wake of this weekend’s rumors that the ACC is considering a conference-only schedule for 2020-21, Goodman reports that the Council will also recommend playing a minimum of four non-conference games. Additionally, they will propose allowing teams to work with players for eight hours per week starting September 21. Currently, Kentucky’s coaching staff can only be with players on the court for four hours per week with an additional four hours for weight training and conditioning.

If the NCAA does go with a November 21 start date for college basketball, that could put Kentucky’s opener — potentially a Champions Classic bubble — on the SAME DAY as the football team’s game at Alabama. I’m excited and exhausted just thinking about it.
