UK Commit Karl Towns is ranked eighth in Scout's latest 2014 rankings Scout just released their new rankings for the 2014 class, for which the Cats only have one commitment thus far--Karl Towns. The top five in the class remained the same, but switched positions. Let's break it down, one ridiculously talented high school player at a time: 1. Jahlil Okafor, Center Previous rank: 3 Considering: Arizona, Arkansas, DePaul, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Wisconsin The Cats are in great position with the big man from Chicago, who says he is "definitely" interested in Kentucky because of the program's success at getting guys to the pros. Even better? Okafor and Tyus Jones, the #2 player in 2014, have said in the past they would go to school as a package deal. Yes please. 2. Tyus Jones, Point Guard Previous rank: 1 Considering: Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio State, UCLA Cal has gone to see Jones play several times over the past few months and Jones repaid the favor back in early January by visiting for the Cats' game against Texas A&M. Although Kentucky lost, Jones enjoyed his trip, especially when a passionate elderly Cats fan tried to convince him to commit. 3. Emmanuel Mudiay, Point Guard Previous rank: 2 Considering: Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M Mudiay made quite the impression on Cal when he visited him play back in January, throwing down a monstrous dunk, but Baylor is also recruiting the Texas native heavily. 4. Trey Lyles, Power Forward Previous rank: 5 Considering: Butler, Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, UCLA Lyles decommitted from Indiana a while back and visited Kentucky for the Auburn game on Saturday. Afterwards, he trimmed his list to six, and many consider him a Kentucky lean since his decommitment. 5. Cliff Alexander, Center Previous rank: 4 Considering: Kentucky, Michigan State, DePaul, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Wisconsin Kentucky and Michigan State are considered Alexander's favorites. 8. Karl Towns, Center -- Committed to UK Previous rank: 7 Also on the radar: 11. D’Angelo Russell, Shooting Guard Previous rank: 10 Considering: Cincinnati, Florida, Georgetown, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Ohio State 13. Rashad Vaughn, Shooting Guard Previous rank: 14 Considering: Baylor, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Syracuse, Texas 17. Stanley Johnson, Small Forward Previous rank: 26 Considering: Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina State, Oregon, San Diego State, Syracuse, UCLA, UNLV, USC 20. Leron Black, Power Forward Previous rank: 19 Considering: Arkansas, Baylor, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt 25.
