Former Kentucky pass-rusher T.J. Carter is getting another shot in the NFL, this time with the New Orleans Saints.

As NFL preseason play begins to ramp up, Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Saints are in the process of signing the former Wildcat after a workout with the team.

Carter previously worked out for the San Francisco 49ers last week.

The 6-foot-4, 289-pound defensive end initially signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He then played in the preseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, his last stint in the NFL.

This past spring, the former Wildcat was selected in the third round of the USFL Draft by the Michigan Panthers.

During his time at Kentucky, Carter racked up 71 total tackles to go with 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks and five pass deflections. He finished with 26 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks during final season in Lexington in 2019. The native of Mableton, Ga. played in 50 career games with 28 starts over the course of his four-year career.

Now, the former Wildcat hopes to find his footing in the league with the New Orleans Saints.
