News from KSR Episode 4 (available around 1 pm today)

by:Matt Jones09/07/06
We taped Episode 4 of Kentucky Sports Radio last night and it was a resounding success. It was a great show with a number of interesting guests. Kentucky basketball recruit Chris Barnes was on the phone and told us about his interest in the Cats and his recruiting process (although some will not like how he describes the Florida Gators). In addition, he tells us that his favorite movie is a certain Shaquille O Neal/Nick Nolte classic from back in the day. We also had Texas St play by play guy Brant Freeman to preview this Saturday's big game and tell us about the Bobcats. WLEX 18 in Lexington's own Ryan Lemond gives his great perspective as he joins us for a college football rundown. And Kentucky Sports Report's Brian Eldridge aka "Unnecessary Roughness" lets us know what the basketball recruiting status is for UK after his most recent round of recruit interviews. Plus Hubby tries to read the news....which is always great. What did we learn on the show? Well Chris Barnes is down to five schools, Kentucky, Florida, Cincy, Wichita St and Oklahoma. He has offers from the last three, but NO OFFER from Kentucky. It seems to me that UK and Florida are his top choices, but you should listen and hear how he describes both schools. Interesting interview and one you should check out. UPDATE Louisville Doss big man Jeff Brooks took a visit to Kentucky yesterday. No word on how it went down...but it went down. Also I got a late phone call that JJ Hickson is now saying that he WILL take an official visit to Kentucky (contrary to former reports) and that they are one of his final schools. I have no confirmation yet of this (as it is to late to try and get him on the phone), but if that is so, then we will try to get JJ on the show next week to discuss. The show should be up around 1 pm today, so check back in and download it for your pleasure. Next week is going to be epic, with a nationally known comedian (whose name you will hear on the broadcast) joining us and the immortal "Phil Steele", he whose job it is to predict all things college football, challenging Hubby to a pick em contest. And the KSR Radio girls debut on Sept. 16th...be ready.
