Kentucky Gymnastics is preparing for the upcoming NCAA Regionals at Auburn Arena this week after receiving a 10-seed from the NCAA Selection Committee.

The top 36 teams in the country advance to the NCAA Regionals with hopes of competing in the NCAA Championships, hosted this year in Fort Worth, Texas.

After a disappointing SEC Tournament run, the ‘Cats are back with vengeance and ready to take on SEC rival Auburn in the first session of competition.

Kentucky’s first session will consist of a quad-meet against SEC rivals No. 7 Auburn and Georgia, with Southern Utah finishing up the rotation. UK placed seventh at the SEC Championships behind both Auburn and Georgia despite counting a win against Georgia earlier in the season.

The ‘Cats defeated UGA at home in February on a historic night for the program, their first-ever win over the storied Georgia GymDawgs.

Auburn is armed with one of the top competitiors in the country, former Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee, who has already made a great impact during her freshman season with multiple perfect 10s on different events. The Tigers defeated Kentucky earlier this season 197.925-197.150 at Auburn in Auburn’s highest score of the season at that time.

Kentucky standout Raena Worley is heading into regionals with three All-American recognitions for the 2022 season. The junior was awarded First Team All-American in All-Around competition, finishing the season as the fourth-best overall All-Around gymnast in the country with an average of 39.680.

Earlier this season, Worley achieved the highest All-Around score for the program since 1996 with a score of 39.750. She was also recognized as Second Team All-American on the Bars and Floor events.

Kentucky will be competing in the first session of the Regionals competition at Auburn, followed by the second session. The second session of Kentucky’s Regional will consist of four more teams, including SEC Champion Florida Gators.

The top two teams from each session will then advance to the finals of the regional, with the top two teams overall invited to compete in the NCAA Championship in Fort Worth next month.

Competition will begin on Wednesday, March 30th at 4 p.m. where you can catch the ‘Cats starting at 4 p.m.
