Now That Was Cool

faldo_azinger_385_399731a.jpg I have written in the past about those moments that have made doing this blog so special and worthwhile. Well another one is beginning, although this one has to do with a much smaller ball and is non-UK related. The Ryder Cup is in town and today I went out to Valhalla, where via 93.9 The Ticket, I have been granted press credentials. The scene is great out there, as the course is set up beautifully and the best golfers in the world (minus one Tiger) are out in full force. I walked a bit and saw Fat Phil, Sergio and all the greats hit shots that Bobby Perry can only dream of. In addition, the UK presence was out in full effect, with JB Holmes having a UK logo on his bag and his gallery including Scott Padgett and a host of UK fans decked out in blue. The press tent was also pretty amazing. While the sight of Rob Bromley, Dick Gabriel and Jerry Tipton does elicit screams of joy from the teenage girls at UK games, the media at the Ryder Cup is on another level. Today I saw guys like Mike Tirico and Johnny Miller milling about as Faldo, Azinger and others stepped up for questions. I as of yet havent gotten the courage up to ask a probing question, but the week is far from over. "What do you think about Josh Harrellson's jean shorts?" or "Poop Tooth, yay or nay?" are questions that I feel like Sergio and Padraig must confront before the week is over. All in all, I will be talking a little bit of golf this week and hopefully getting some audio for the site. I will not be covering the events on the blog, but will be looking for the absurdities at the Ryder Cup and confronting all things UK that might arise. Stay tuned, and if you are around the course, stop by.....I will be the guy teaching Jim Furyk how to fix that hitch in his swing.....
