Well this is not a sentence I'd like to type: A Power Five conference is contemplating cancelling its 2020 college football season. Not good! Less than an hour after the MAC became the first FBS conference to announce it will not play football this fall, Pete Thamel revealed that Big Ten presidents are meeting today and "all options are on the table." https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1292117309235044352?s=20 Where is this "presidential momentum" coming from? The source is unknown but we can say with certainty that the Big Ten is not alone. SI's Ross Dellenger says, "Sense across college administrators is that the Pac-12 wouldn't be far behind the Big Ten, if it were to pull the trigger (and cancel the season)." Before the discussions begin with Big Ten presidents, the conference released news that is not optimistic. Training camps began this week across the Big Ten. Today they are pressing pause in the progression of camp. Instead of adding shoulder pads to the mix, they will practice with only helmets until told otherwise. To make matters worse, there's this: https://twitter.com/ByPatForde/status/1292123705733259265?s=20 The Big Ten was the first Power Five league to move to a conference-only schedule. Now they could be the first to cancel their 2020 college football season.
