One-time Kentucky commit Boogie Fland will visit Florida

At one point, Boogie Fland was the next in line to be the star point guard at the University of Kentucky. All that fell apart when John Calipari bolted for Arkansas and took his prized recruit with him. In his first year with the Hogs, Fland averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists in 21 games, but a broken hand derailed much of his season. Fland returned in the NCAA tournament in limited minutes, but a Sweet 16 loss to Texas Tech closed the book for Boogie’s time in Fayetteville.
Most NBA mock drafts projected Fland as a first-round pick the entire season. Some even had him in the late lottery, but his hand injury caused his stock to suffer, and most recent mocks projected him as a second-rounder. This non-first-round status likely caused him to withdraw his name from the 2025 draft and look for a new collegiate home in the transfer portal.
Fland is now set to visit the reigning national champions, the Florida Gators, as one of the top 15 players in the transfer portal considers his next landing spot.

Whoever secures the talents of Boogie Fland, it won’t come cheap. In early May, rumors swirled that his team was asking schools for 5 and 7 million dollars for his sophomore season. Of course, take all these astronomical numbers leaked by players’ agents with a grain of salt. No one actually knows how much these guys are getting, and agencies are incentivized to exaggerate claims. However, those same whispers mentioned Florida as a team trying to lure Fland out of the NBA draft, and a big payday and now they are his first visit.
If you have any aspiration that Fland might pull a Jayden Quaintance and consider a recommitment to Kentucky, it is probably best to put those thoughts to bed. The Wildcats don’t have the roster space (or NIL money) to offer a top player like Fland. Even if Otega Oweh were to surprise everyone and remain in the NBA draft, it would be shocking to see Pope pursue Fland at this point.
If nothing else, life in the transfer portal era is not boring, that’s for sure.
