Only one Wildcat in Top 10 of Scout.com's final rankings
De'Aaron Fox was John Calipari's only signee to crack the Top 10 of Scout.com's final rankings for the 2016 class. Scout's Evan Daniels called it the best class he's ever evaluated; Josh Gershon wrote, "putting together a Top 10 has never been more difficult."
Here is what Gershon had to say about Fox, the sixth-ranked recruit in the class:
Heading to Kentucky next season, Fox is a tough player to rank in the Top 10 due to the fact that his ceiling is extremely high. He's a 6-foot-4 point guard with a 6-foot-6 wingspan and has blazing speed. He's capable of using his quickness and handle to create his own shot or find teammates. Fox is a score-first point guard but does have the vision to set guys up when he wants as well. If Fox can become more efficient as a scorer while making consistently better decisions with the ball, he has the physical tools to overachieve from where he's slotted. Just outside the Top 10 you'll find three consecutive Wildcats: Bam Adebayo at No. 11, Wenyen Gabriel at No. 12 and Malik Monk at No. 13. Sacha Killeya-Jones is ranked No. 27. Those five players give Kentucky the No. 1 team ranking, just ahead of Duke. Kentucky and Mississippi State are the only two programs with five Top 100 players. Add Marques Bolden, the eighth-ranked recruit, and John Calipari is looking at a really unprecedented class.
