This has to be a good sign, right?

On Friday night, while preparing to accept his 2022 Wooden Award recognition out in Los Angeles, Kentucky’s consensus National Player of the Year, Oscar Tshiebwe, dropped a new line of merchandise through Kentucky Branded. Big O is selling sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, and mugs with his name and face on them.

Much has been made since the end of the season regarding Tshiebwe’s decision to either return to UK for another season or make the leap to the NBA. The feeling has been that if Tshiebwe can figure out how to legally take home his keep of money made from name, image, and likeness (NIL), he’d be more inclined to come back for a senior season in Lexington. But if the legal issues can’t get resolved, he might have no choice but to declare for the pros, or else risk deportation.

This isn’t the first time that Tshiebwe has “opened for business” either. He was first deemed eligible to receive NIL benefits back in February, initially releasing merchandise through Kentucky Branded, but a legal snag eventually shut it down. Whatever issue arose at the time appears to have been resolved.

Since sweeping the National Player of the Year race, Tshiebwe has been doing various interviews after accepting his many awards. He’s been asked several times if he has made a decision on a return to Kentucky, but has stayed mum for the most part. However, he has been consistent with stating that coming back for a senior season is a realistic possibility. With the news that he’s now back in business, perhaps that possibility is even more likely.

If you’d like to purchase some Big O merch, you can do so by clicking the link here. I’ve already put in an order for two dozen of these babies.
