Oscar Tshiebwe is a regular on the church circuit in Kentucky, sharing his story and the gospel with people all across the Bluegrass. Now, you can hear Oscar preach from the comfort of your own living room. This afternoon, Oscar launched his own YouTube channel, which will feature inspirational videos about his journey from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Kentucky, where he won every single national player of the year award this past season.

The first video is titled “Work Hard and Trust in God” and shows Oscar in Congo last summer preparing for his junior season at Kentucky. In it, he talks about the importance of discipline and faith in training.

“You’ve got to work. You’ve got to try to get better without anyone watching you. That’s how you’re going to prove in front of millions and millions of people watching you.”

Oscar ends the video preparing to sprint off screen.

“God does not lie,” he says. “He always keeps his promise to those who trust in Him. I trust in Him and all my dreams will come true. I believe in Him.”

From there, we get a montage of Oscar’s accolades. Point made.

In addition to his budding career as a preacher and/or motivational speaker, Oscar is aiming to be a lottery pick. After leading Kentucky in scoring (17.4 PPG), rebounding (15.1 RPG), steals (1.8 SPG), and blocks (1.6 BPG) last season, Oscar announced he’s coming back for a senior year in hopes of improving his NBA Draft stock to reach his next goal.

“When I was praying one day to play for Kentucky, it was not the easy way but God opened the door. Now I’m at Kentucky and I’m making one of my dreams come true. Now I’m going to be a lottery pick but I’m not there yet so that means the door is still closed but God can make it possible so that’s why I always pray. I can see myself being a lottery pick but I just trust God that I’ll get there.”

After all he’s done so far, how can you bet against him?
