Kentucky football has keyed in on a new prospect for the Big Blue Wall.

Deryc Plazz, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound offensive tackle out of Jacksonville, FL, officially picked up an offer from the Wildcats on Wednesday. Considered a three-star recruit from the 2024 class, Plazz is ranked No. 894 in the country by the On3 Consensus. He only recently began to hear from Kentucky, but the coaching staff wasted little time getting the ball rolling with a scholarship. Defensive backs coach Chris Collins first contacted Plazz through social media and the two sides quickly began to establish a connection.

“The relationship is pretty good,” Plazz told KSR shortly after announcing his UK offer. “I’ve been talking to Coach Chris Collins a little bit. It was something that’s been in the works for a while now.”

Plazz’s recruitment has grown significantly since the new year began. He went from just one Divison I offer in 2022 (Austin Peay) to now holding 23 as of late March. The likes of Miami (FL), NC State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Rutgers, Cincinnati, UCF, and Louisville, among others, have all reached out with offers. Plazz says Kentucky initially wanted to get him on campus for a workout before making a decision on an offer, but the staff decided to speed up the process as his popularity continues to boom.

With an offer from UK now in hand, Plazz is already working on making it to Lexington for the first time. He tells KSR that an unofficial visit will happen sometime in April, likely near the end of the month. If the trip goes well, Plazz then will look to lock in one of his five official visits with the Wildcats in June or July. He’s well aware of Kentucky’s reputation for producing NFL-caliber offensive linemen.

“I was familiar based on the recent success,” Plazz said of UK. “I know they do very well developing the offensive linemen. They have one of the top offensive lines in the country every year so it’s definitely somewhere I would love to be.”

Plazz is coming off trips earlier in the month to in-state programs Miami and Florida, with the former making a significant push at this stage in his process. He talks with members of the Hurricanes staff on a daily basis. NC State is also in constant contact, with the likes of Pitt, Cincinnati, and Rutgers regularly in Plazz’s ear, as well. Pitt and Rutgers are expected to receive visits in the near future.
