Another game and another unbelievable comeback from double digits to secure a win. Kentucky probably had no business winning that game but they showed once again a never give up attitude until the final seconds ticked off the clock. Let's look back at the thrilling overtime win against Vanderbilt courtesy of KSR photographer, Dr. Michael Huang: The story of the game was clearly Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The 6'6 freshman put the team on his back, in particular in the second half, scoring a career-high 30 points (12-19, 5-5 FT). Further he hit two clutch free throws to send the game to overtime. One game after being the hero in the big comeback against West Virginia, it looked like Kevin Knox might struggle against Vanderbilt. But then he heated up, finishing the game with 18 points and eight rebounds. He had a huge AND-1 basket late in the game. Quade Green had been struggling since returning from injury. But against West Virginia he started to find his groove again. Green followed that game up hitting some big shots against the Commodores. None of course was bigger than the layup to win the game. His teammates stormed the court as the clock expired for an exciting dogpile to celebrate. Close games are becoming a way of life for this Kentucky team so can't imagine the road game at Missouri Saturday will be any different.
