Two of the country’s top-ranked junior pass-catchers are hearing plenty from Kentucky early in their recruitments.

Four-star wide receivers, Cam Coleman and Amari Jefferson, are both high on what the Wildcats are pitching to them so far. Coleman is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound WR from Phenix City, AL who recently received a massive bump in the latest On300 player rankings, jumping from No. 193 overall all the way to No. 20. Meanwhile, Jefferson is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound WR out of Chattanooga, TN who is ranked among the updated On300, checking in at No. 263.

According to On3’s Director of Recruiting, Chad Simmons, both Coleman and Jefferson are listening closely to what Kentucky has to offer.

Simmons reports that Coleman is hearing the most right now from Clemson, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. But those are hardly the only schools Coleman is in contact with. The likes of Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, and others are all standing out to Coleman. He’s picking up offers left and right as his recruitment continues to boom. Coleman visited Kentucky at the end of January for the program’s annual Junior Day.

As for Jefferson, he’s technically a Tennessee baseball commit, but he recently told Simmons that the current plan is to “play football somewhere and walk onto the baseball team” and that it is “very unlikely” that he’ll go to UT just to play baseball. With that in mind, most schools are offering the opportunity to play both sports. Jefferson has visits locked in with Alabama (March 4; no offer), Georgia (March 11), Tennessee (March 25), Clemson (April 1; no offer), and Colorado (April 8-9), but he tells Simmons that Kentucky is among his group of top schools.

“I’ll say Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, I’d say those are the top schools right now,” Jefferson said. UK also made his “First 12” list back in late-Jan.

Kentucky has struck gold over the last couple of years when it comes to recruiting high-level wide receivers, and that hasn’t slowed down since the return of Liam Coen as offensive coordinator. Coleman and Jefferson are going to be prospects to watch moving forward.
