Preseason Cat stats

Chris Johns took a look at how some of the pro football Cats looked over the weekend, so I figured we'd check in on how the newest NBA Cats are faring so far in the NBA's preseason. --Blue Jesus is taking care of business in D.C., as John Wall leads the preseason in assists at 8/g, starting the last two games alongside Gilbert Arenas. His 14.7 ppg is second on the Wizards, but he's only shooting 38% from the field through his first three games. His jumper hasn't come along yet, but he is getting to the line six times per game and averaging 2.7 steals to lead the team. The Wizards dropped one to Derrick Rose and the Bulls over the weekend but play tomorrow night against Atlanta. Wall won't see another one of his Kentucky classmates in a preseason game until November, when Houston travels to the nation's capital. --Meanwhile, Wall's main competition for Rookie of the Year honors, a man known as Boogie, is leading Sacramento in everything. Well, points and rebounds, but that's pretty much everything. He's averaging 16 and 10, knocking down 44% of his field goals and even hit his only three-point attempt of the preseason. He's also turning it over three times a game, but chances are good he's just doing that to be nice. Fouls haven't been kind to Cousins, though, as he fouled out in two of his team's three games so far and is shooting just 58% from the line, both areas which were a cause for concern while he was at Kentucky and appear to have carried over a little bit to the preseason. The Kings play Golden State Tuesday, the Lakers Wednesday and Eric Bledsoe's Clippers Tuesday, Oct. 19. --Speaking of Bledsoe, he's finding it a little tough to get going with the Clips. He's averaging 5 ppg while turning it over eight times with only three assists in his two games. However, with Baron Davis and a host of other guards on the roster, there's plenty of people to learn from, and with Al-Farooq Aminu on the roster, there's someone whose goofy glasses he can laugh at, so things are looking up for Bledsoe despite the slow start. The Clippers play the Spurs and Nuggets this week. --And, last but certainly not least, Patrick Patterson. He's played in all four games for Houston so far, but is averaging just 2.5 ppg on 38% shooting. He's also grabbing 2.7 rebounds in 12 minutes per game. Patterson had his best game so far this preseason last night against what's left of the Cavs, notching six points and four rebounds in the Rockets' win. They travel to China this week for a pair of games against the New Jersey Nets which will be broadcast on NBA TV. --Daniel Orton still hasn't suited up for the Magic as he continues to work to strengthen his knee.
