In this first video you’ll see offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Randy Sanders working with all five quarterbacks on the depth chart, Maxwell Smith, Morgan Newton, Patrick Towles, and the two lesser-known freshmen Jalen Whitlow and Jeff Witthuhn. In the drill Sanders is looking for quick feet and how fast they can turn to get rid of the ball. Offensive line coach Mike Summers and defensive line coach David Turner put their squads head-to-head in a friendly battle. Collins Ukwu rushing on the outside is held off by first-year starter Kevin Mitchell. On the next play, sophomore reserve center Max Godby might get whistled for a hold in a game situation, but the coaches praise the hustle. The first full closed scrimmage is being held today at Commonwealth Stadium. Any updates that come from the practice will be up as soon as we hear.
