tr-55.jpeg Today is a day that we have waited for a long time, and it is finally here. We are pleased to announce that beginning this Friday, Rob Gidel and Matt Jones will be the hosts of a new daily afternoon drive radio show on 1570 The Zone in Louisville from 3 pm - 7 pm. Rob will drive the show beginning at 3 and will be joined by Matt later in the day after his legal duties are complete. Rob and Matt will be joined by their crew during the week to provide the most unique, diverse radio show in the state. Beginning in a few weeks, the show will stream LIVE online and be able to be heard throughout the country for all fans to keep up with the sports happenings in the Bluegrass State. Here is an official press release from 1570 The Zone: WWSZ and WTSZ The Zone, Louisville's ESPN Radio, announced today that it has signed an agreement for a new live and local sports talk show, to be called the Sports Mob with Matt Jones and Rob Gidel. The show will air Monday through Friday from 3 pm - 7 pm. The show will feature Matt and Rob as well as other contributors in a daily format that will led itself to their unique and cutting-edge brand of sports talk. "Matt and Rob will provide a consistently entertaining brand of local sports talk radio, both those guys are extremely bright, very prepared, and don't take themselves too seriously. The market is in for a real treat with these two and their crew" said The Zone's Dugan Ryan. Matt Jones stated: "Rob and I are very excited about the show and the chance to bring a new voice to the radio market in Louisville. What we do is far different than your normal sports talk in the area and we are looking forward to shaking up the market." Rob Gidel stated: "Matt and I are planning to put out a thorough, entertaining show that will provide news and information that cannot be received elsewhere. We are committed to making this successful and producing the best radio show in the state." Also announced by The Zone in another programming move, the Big EZ Show, with Zach McCrite will now air Monday through Friday from 10a - 1 p. "The Big Guy has built quite a following in the mid-days and a lot of folks were clamoring for a return to EZ's original time slot and with the new show in the afternoons it just seemed to make sense," said The Zone's Kevin Otting. WWSZ and WTSZ are Louisville's only locally owned radio stations and offer the latest sports information , breaking news and sports talk programming. WTSZ is owned by ChillTown Broadcasting, a local broadcasting company committed to running a radio station, "the old school way," in the words of Dugan Ryan. Matt Jones and Rob Gidel come from Kentucky Sports Radio.com, a successful internet website that in six months, became the second largest UK sports site on the internet and one of the most heavily trafficed independent collegiate sports sites in America. On that site, Matt and Rob specialized in briging unique insider news on recruiting and all other topics involved in local sports. Quickly Jones and Gidel became the number one authority on football and basketball recruiting and it continues to be their forte today. We are really excited about this opportunity. All of our gang, including Ravi Moss, Chris Tomlin, John Wilkinson, Hubby, the Turkey Hunter, etc will be involved in this enterprise. We hope to very soon be able to provide not only the best show in Louisville, but also throughout the state, via online streaming and other outlets. You can hear the show on 1570 AM in Louisville and 1600 AM in the Frankfort/Lexington area and we hope all will tune it in. Finally, we want to take the opportunity to thank you guys who have been coming here for the last eight months or so. This site has gone from a few hundred readers to the amazing growth we have had today.....and it has really blown us away. I never thought when we started this endeavor a year or so ago that this would be possible. We want to take the same irreverant style that we have brought to the blog to this new show and make sports talk radio in the state entertaining. I hope you will come along for the ride.
