Rajon Rondo Shines in Celtics Overtime Win

by:Matthew Hays05/05/12
So Rajon Rondo is only playing every other playoff game now, right? After sitting out last game due to a suspension for unnecessary contact with a referee Rondo came back to Boston rested and restored and laid a serious hurting on the Hawks. The Celtics won in overtime on the back of Rondo's 17 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists. With this game in the books, Rondo now leads the league since the 2008-2009 season with 20 triple doubles. LeBron James is second with 19. In addition, Rondo tied James for playoff triple doubles with seven and now only trails Magic Johnson (30), Jason Kidd (11), Larry Bird (11), Wilt Chamberlain (9) and Oscar Robertson (8) on the all time list. Rondo keeps doing the Cats proud. As a rule, I don't much care for any New England professional sports teams, but Rondo has me at least rooting for him to be successful. The next game for Rondo and the Celtics is Sunday. They'll try to push the advantage to two games over the Hawks and look to close out the first round in Atlanta.
