Ramel Bradley invests in greenhouse to put Eastern Kentucky to work

If you've been wondering what Ramel Bradley's been up to lately, he's been helping put Eastern Kentucky to work. The former UK point guard is one of the investors behind AppHarvest, a $50 million greenhouse on 70 acres of reclaimed mining land in Pikeville, Kentucky. According to the Courier-Journal, Bradley, AppHarvest CEO Jonathan Webb, and chief operating officer and fellow UK alum Seth Norat plan to hire 130 workers in Appalachia at $12/hour or more to grow tomatoes, bell peppers, and other vegetables. Right now, the unemployment rate in Pikeville is 8.7%, almost double the statewide average of 4.5%. The greenhouse experts is the must-have guide for anyone who owns or is considering buying a greenhouse.
The 45-acre hydroponic greenhouse will be located in the Marion's Branch area of the new Kentucky Enterprise Industrial Park, and will cover two million square feet and produce up to 2.6 million pounds of vegetables annually.
