Randall Cobb: Winning awards and winning the combine

@HunterCampbell

cobb-celebration This is a big weekend for Randall Cobb, as he's being measured against the best of the best at the NFL Combine. It's also a big weekend as Cobb was named the Southeast's Special Teams Player of the Year by the Atlanta Touchdown Club. While there's no word on why the club chooses to hand out its awards almost two months after the completion of the season, it seems to be quite an honor nonetheless. Cobb joins Derek Abney as a Wildcat winner of the special teams award, and several other Kentucky standouts, like Tim Couch and Babe Pirilli, who won awards from the club for other positions. Meanwhile, at the combine, Cobb made good on his efforts to improve his 40-yard-dash time, shaving a tenth of a second off of last year's pro day to clock in at 4.45, according to @ChipCosby. That's a very respectable time, especially for someone who isn't necessarily considered a burner, and apparently was good for fourth-best out of the receiver group. More importantly than the time he ran, though, is who he beat out, and who he beat out is the top WR in the draft, Georgia's AJ Green: cobb40tweet Big ups to Cobb for bringing it at the combine and we'll hopefully get some reports on Derrick Locke when he does his thing later in the day.
