mbb_031807_morris8.jpeg As Beisner noted a few days ago, former Cat Joe Crawford recently joined Randolph Morris with the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association. So far, they're making big trouble for Little China. Crawford has made a splash in his first few games, averaging 24.5 points through a pair of games with the team after joining them last week. However, it's Morris that continues to be the scariest thing to hit China since Josh Harrellson. Morris was named the Player of the Week for the CBA last week, as he put up 34 points and 17 rebounds in the squad's win over Jilin. The big man is averaging 29.4 points and 12.8 rebounds, good for 2nd and 8th in the league, respectively. In the event that the state-owned televisions get sports channels, the pair of Cats have definitely made the Ducks a team to watch in the land adjacent to the Land of the Rising Sun and, according to this highly informative blurb about Morris, the team could have been even better if they hadn't lost as many games:
American Randolph Morris (211-F/C-86) had an amazing evening in the last round for Beijing and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. The 24-year old power forward had a double-double of 34 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team beat Jilin (#14, 3-11) 105-98. Beijing is placed at 5th position in Chinese CBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Beijing will need more victories to improve their 9-6 record. Morris turned to be Beijing's top player in his first season with the team. University of Kentucky graduate has very impressive stats this year. Morris is in league's top in points (2nd best: 29.4ppg), rebounds (8th best: 12.8rpg) and averages solid 1.8bpg.
It's always good to see former Kentucky players finding success, especially when it jives well with Coach Cal's plan to take over the Middle Kingdom. Here's to their continued domination and to Beijing finding a way to get a few more victories. They'll need them if they want to improve their record. 前往莫里斯和克劳福德。去猫。 [Asia-Basket]
