Random Friday Five

Wounded Duck  The national title hopes of the Oregon Ducks took a rapid fall in one short quarterback keeper. Late in the first quarter, and Oregon leading 8-7 over the Arizona Wildcats, Heisman hopeful Dennis Dixon ran left for a keeper in which he injured his knee; removing him for the rest of the game. From that point forward, we see the brother of NFL great Ryan Leaf (kidding) enter at QB, and let's just say, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. The younger Leaf made several bad decisions mirroring the recent career of Ryan in the midst of a 34-24 loss to Zona. Really fell bad for Dixon as he is one heck of a football player, and Oregon is not even close to the same team without him. Dear Barry Bonds, please go away...  Thanks, Barry.....now I will have to watch your fat face every single second I tune in to sports center leading up to your trial for the indictment that was handed down to you yesterday on charges of perjury. Everyone knows you were/are a roid head. It is no secret, none what so ever. It is time to man up and admit that you cheated, lied, and broke the one of the greatest records in all of sports by " not knowingly taking steroids." For crying out loud give me a break. We are all so sick of hearing your name in the media. It is unfortunate in a day where A-Rod makes a big signing, the second ranked team in the BCS is defeated, and many other normal sports stories occur, we have to deal with you being the lead news of every network available. Thanks you drama queen. Sad, sad news for Peanut  Today we learn the unfortunate news that star defensive end and Louisville Cardinal Peanut Whitehead will have to give up the game of football due to a spinal injury. Peanut was a stud recruit out of Alabama that had offers from almost every big time school in the south. I wish Peanut nothing but the best in the future as not only was he a great football standout, but a very well rounded individual as well. Gardner-Webb Crashes Back Down To Earth  No more than a week after upsetting Kentucky in Rupp Arena, the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs looked very ordinary in a 78-66 loss in Madison Square Garden to UCONN. Webb held tight for the first twelve plus minutes, but the athletic difference and imposing front line of the Huskies overwhelmed GW for most of the game. Not a good sign for Kentucky fans. Dean Wells A Star On Kentucky Sports Radio  Not sure if you were able to listen last night or not, but former UK  linebacker Dean Wells was on the show to give his thoughts surrounding Kentucky football and updated us on where he is at the current time in his life. Dean was great, insightful, and very excited for Rich Brooks and the success Kentucky has had this season. Great job Dean.
