Ravens Filled a Need by Drafting Za'Darius Smith

by:Bobby Reagan05/03/15
02_SmithNo122_news The Baltimore Sun had an article breaking down the picks of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft and highlighted our beloved Za'Darius Smith. The Ravens expect Smith to fill the hole left by Pernell McPhee, an outside linebacker/defensive end who left in free agency this past offseason. In fact, Smith says he's watched a lot of tape on McPhee and modeled his game after him. The Sun had this quote from Smith:

"I watched him a lot, and I think I can follow in his footsteps and become more like him," said Smith, who had 10 ½ sacks in two seasons at Kentucky and can rush from both the edge and the interior. "He just signed a new contract, and this team right here is replacing the other guy like Pernell McPhee. And I can tell you this: A lot of people are going to be hearing from Za'Darius Smith as a Baltimore Raven."

As much as I dislike the Ravens as a fan, I hope Smith is right as he's one of the best guys you'll meet in the football world. Best of luck to Smith and the rest of the Kentucky players as they try to make rosters for the 2015-16 NFL season.
