After after a tough weekend series at Ole Miss, tonight was exactly what Gary Henderson and his Kentucky Baseball team needed to get back on track. Behind a solid start by Zach Logue and back-to-back home runs in the top of the third, the Batcats (30-23, 13-14) got back on the winning side of the scoreboard with a 4-1 victory over Murray State (25-27). Let’s get to the box score and some notes from the W.

school_logo_large_dark A great Tuesday night for Zach Logue. The sophomore LHP turned in what could be his best start of 2016 against the Racers, going 5.2 innings and allowing only 5 hits. On top of that, Logue walked zero batters and struck out seven. This performance may have eared Logue a spot in the regular postseason rotation.

school_logo_large_dark Reks and White go back-to-back. The highlight of the game had to be when the two bombs broke open the scoring in the top of the third. Make that four home runs for White, and six for Reks on the season. Both players also extended their hitting streaks – 12 for White, eight for Reks. Let’s hope this becomes a trend.

school_logo_large_dark A solid day for the rest of the offense as well. Riley Mahan and Kole Cottam both had multi hit games. Dorian Hairston and Gunnar McNeil had back-to-back doubles in the top of the 5th to push the Wildcat lead to 4-0. The Racers were able to push one across the board in the bottom of the seventh, but inclimate weather would end the game just an inning later.

That’ll do it for tonight. Kentucky is back in action for the last weekend of the regular season on Thursday evening when Missouri comes to town. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at The Cliff. Stay tuned to KSR for all the coverage as we get one step closer to postseason play.
