Team chemistry should not be an issue for Kentucky Women’s Basketball this season.

The Wildcats have had an eventful week. In just seven days, the Kentucky team gained valuable wisdom from an NBC sportscaster, cheered on the Kentucky volleyball team and found some thrill rides in Ohio. Not to mention, the team did all of this during their first week of class… Not bad for a week’s work.

Maria Taylor educates the ‘Cats

On August 22, NBC sportscaster and former Georgia basketball star Maria Taylor visited the team to share some inspiration. Taylor is known for her motivational speeches and visited several top-tier programs this summer, including Alabama, Miami, and Virginia.

Although Taylor visited Kentucky to educate and inspire, she couldn’t help but have a little fun. The sideline reporter snapped a photo in John Calipari’s office. Of course, there’s no better place to sit than at Coach Cal’s desk.

Taylor summed up her visit to Lexington with a two-word response to Kentucky Women’s Basketball’s Twitter account.

“My pleasure.”

Wildcats cheer on Wildcats

Just because it’s not basketball season yet doesn’t mean the Kentucky women’s basketball team can’t enjoy some UK Athletics. On Friday, the ‘Cats headed to their home court, Memorial Coliseum, to cheer on the Kentucky volleyball program.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, these ‘Cats don’t do anything in moderation. The team went all out, making signs to support their fellow ‘Cats while sitting near the front row.

Despite the team’s admirable support, Kentucky volleyball fell 3-2 to Marquette in heartbreaking fashion. I guess Kentucky will just have to win a few extra games at home this season to make up for the painful defeat. What a shame.

Kentucky takes on Ohio

Although the Wildcats started their wild week in Kentucky, they finished it in the Buckeye State. On Saturday, the team traveled north to Kings Island, a popular amusement park in Mason, Ohio. It’s safe to say the team had fun.

Head coach Kyra Elzy took to social media to describe the experience.

“WORK HARD. PLAY HARD. I had a blast at Kings Island with my crew! Lots of laughs, team bonding, and roller coaster rides (for the majority of us). I’m grateful for quality time to connect with these amazing souls.”

Whether the team is participating in painting lessons, boxing matches, or rollercoasters, there’s one certainty: they’re doing it together. Fans can only hope that they have as much fun this season as the Wildcats have had this summer.
