pitinosadIn a radio interview on WHAS-840 Friday morning, Rick Pitino sat down with host Terry Meiners to discuss his upcoming hearing with the NCAA.  "What I've done the last 30 years in terms of being compliant to all NCAA rules — no deals with agents, AAU coaches, nothing like that, I feel very comfortable answering their response," Pitino said. "I look forward to that so-called day in court." The aforementioned response is the formal statement made by the NCAA, stating that "Pitino did not conduct frequent spot checks to uncover potential or existing compliance problems as it relates to McGee's interactions with prospects and student-athletes," and "if Pitino saw no red flags in connection with McGee's interactions with then prospective and current student-athletes, it was because he was not looking for them." Pitino faces a Level I violation for failure to monitor, in addition to Andre McGee's Level I violation and former graduate assistant Brandon Williams' failure to cooperate with the NCAA charge. Pitino, who said in Friday's interview he didn't "have the calendar in front of [him]," added that the hearing would be sometime mid-April. "We all answer to the God we believe in, and I've got no problem answering in this situation, at all," Pitino said. "It's not the NCAA we answer to in life, and I've got no problem with this at all."
