The freshly named head coach of the Iona Gaels has already pitched the idea of taking on Kentucky - but not Lousiville - previously stating back in the middle of March that he "would love to schedule Kentucky in the Garden in the Jimmy V Classic." Now, according to CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein, Pitino is upping the anty: a home-and-home series against the 'Cats with Iona hosting in Madison Square Garden and Kentucky hosting in Rupp Arena. Rothstein also notes that Pitino would like to schedule a game against his son, Richard Pitino, who is the head coach at Minnesota, due to some odd bet between the two. https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/1247202870912581634?s=20 ESPN's Dick Vitale was the first to ignite the idea of Pitino and Calipari going head-to-head once again, and ever since then it has only gained traction. Cal even addressed this topic shortly after Iona hired Pitino, stating that, during a phone call between the two coaches, "neither one of us talked — he didn’t talk schedule. I didn’t talk schedule." Cal doesn't seem all that opposed to the idea, but he isn't exactly begging for Pitino to come down and play him either. It would seem that Pitino is the one most eager to get this series spoken into existence.  So how long until this thing just happens? Would you be for this? A trip to New York City and MSG is never a bad thing... But what about Pitino's return to Rupp? What would his reception look like? Only one way to find out I suppose.
